Photographing your wardrobe for better matches

Light is the whole job
Shoot near a window in indirect daylight. Overhead room lighting shifts color badly — a navy trouser photographs black, a stone chino photographs white, and every match downstream inherits the error.
Lay flat, fill the frame
Place the garment on a plain surface, smooth the wrinkles, and let it fill most of the frame. A clean edge against a plain background is what lets the scanner isolate the silhouette.
One garment per photo
Batch scanning is faster, but stacked or overlapping pieces get merged. Keep it one item per frame for the pieces you wear most, and batch the rest.
Capture the label
For fragrances, photograph the bottle label straight on. Aura hydrates the note pyramid automatically from a recognized name, which saves entering top, heart, and base by hand.
